EARNING THEIR LIVING
Annie and Johnny were just children when they were sent to an orphanage. They were siblings aged only 5 and 8 respectively and they were already professional pickpockets and swindlers. An old hospital in ruins used to be their home when they were abandoned by their parents. As they were just kids they had an enormous survival instinct. Life forced them to learn to earn their living very fast, maybe too fast for just two young children. Fortunately, they both were really creative and learned to earn their living quite easily.
When they finally were caught it was a rainy and gloomy night after the first performance of a famous play, The Phantom of the Opera. Annie came into the theatre and pretended to be lost. Taking advantage of the kidness and confusion of those people, Annie convinced them to go out of the theatre during the break and Johnny picked their wallets and other belongings that could have been valuable while they were trying to find her parents. Normally, they didn't notice anything strange and neither were they aware of anything out of the ordinary going on if our main characters had not tried to cheat another family at the end of the play. All the first victims had to do was to connect their loses to the fact that the little girl supposedly lost was again there with another little boy. None of them seemed to be scared and at the same time they were begging for money to another family like them so they decided to call the security guard and eventually, the social workers. So after trying to find their parents they decided to send them to the orphanage which I talked about at the beginning.)
Less than a year later Annie and Johnny were found a foster family. They were really lucky because not only were the parents kind and generous but they also had two more siblings, another boy and a girl about their ages who tried their best to make them feel at home. In two years' time they became the best of their classes and they got their chilhood back.
