July 6th Quebec, Canada - Approaching the end of our journey

We arrived six days ago and I'm over the moon. It's a dream come true. Ever since I first read "Anne of Green Gables" by L.M.Montgomery I've always wanted to visit Canada and now I'm here. I still can't believe it ! I'm with my husband on our honeymoon, by the way.

The French-speaking province of Quebec has a personality of its own. It has its own waterfalls, the Montmorency Falls, higher than Niagara Falls. The city of Quebec, where we are now, is the only one in North America surrounded by a wall.

This morning, we've been strolling along the cobbled streets like The Rue du Petit-Champlain, full of craft shops and cafés. We've seen the most famous landmark of the city: the Chateau Frontenac, an old castle now being run as a five-star hotel. Strangely enough, tourists are allowed to go into its luxurious hall and to admire the golden walls and elevators. It's absolutely amazing ! I took a picture of my husband while imitating James Bond at the entrance of the hotel. It was fun!

As for restaurants, in Quebec you can find from the latest rage in French cuisine to the typical pancakes covered with the famous maple syrup made out of sap from the trees. We even tried bison sausages and some seed soup when visiting an Indian settlement.

Yesterday, on our voyage across the Saguenay fiord we were able to see some whales ans seals. The connection I felt with nature then cannot be compared to any other experience ever. If you want to enjoy both nature and a picturesque lively city full of charm, Quebec is the perfect holiday destination for you. Unfortunately, tomorrow we'll have to say goodbye to this wonderful adventure.

Student's film recommendation

I cannot but take this opportunity to recommend everyone to go and see the film Liberal Arts (Amor y Letras in Spanish). Here in valladolid you can see it at the Casablanca Cinema. You can choose between seeing it in dubbed version or in English with subtitles in Spanish. Let me suggest you the second choice. Is there a more fabulous and easier way of learning English? The writer, director and leading actor of the film is Josh Radnor, famous for his role of Ted Musby in the popular tv series How I Met Your Mother. Anyone who likes reading, music, love and life will like this film. I loved it ! It's the best film I've seen in a long time. When you go out of the cinema, the film leaves you with a big smile on your lips and it continues there every time you remember its witty dialogues, its tottally credible characters and story and ,above all, the great sensibility of Josh Radnor, who seems to want to tell us with his film :" Life has a sense, it's usually concealed, that's true, but if you're lucky enough you'll find it out with someone else by your side".
