TED: SOME SECRETS ABOUT GOOGLE AND FACEBOOK
Watch this interesting video. This sounds really scary. I would like to show my appreciation to Pilar's contribution to the blog.
TED is a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design.

VALIDATION
Sometimes we need somebody to tell us how lucky we are, how beautiful or good people we are to value ourselves. I think there is a lesson to learn from this video which one of my students was so kind as to share with all of us.
A moving short story. It's worth watching whttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank

Rebecca MacKinnon: Let's take back the Internet!
In this powerful talk from TEDGlobal, Rebecca MacKinnon describes the expanding struggle for freedom and control in cyberspace, and asks: How do we design the next phase of the Internet with accountability and freedom at its core, rather than control? She believes the internet is headed for a "Magna Carta" moment when citizens around the world demand that their governments protect free speech and their right to connection.

English-Speaking Union Lecture: Professor David Crystal
English-Speaking Union Lecture: Professor David Crystal
Submitted by Rob Lewis on 11 July, 2011 - 14:39
In the elegant surroundings of the English-Speaking Union, Professor David Crystal delivered a fascinating lecture about the relationship between the King James Bible and the ways in which aspects of the English language have evolved over the 400 years since 1611.
The presentation focused particularly on the impact of the King James Bible on idioms of the English language. The lecture explores ways in which the text has popularised so many well-known phrases and sayings found in everyday use.
This intellectual adventure ranges from the Bible text right through to Hollywood musicals.

PERFORMING
Last Friday we discovered the actors and actresses we all have inside. My students did a great job improvising, acting and writing the end of scripts to perform a sketch. Here there are some links that my come in handy when acting. Check them out!

WRITING WORKSHOP: STORY WRITING
Well, this is the result of hard work where my students had to put their heads together and work in teams to produce a good story with all the ingredients that would make a reader feel appealed and compelled to read it. The three stories that got finally published are the winners of the contest we held in each group - all the members of the group got a chocolate as well as reward! I found the activity interesting and worth doing in spite of the long time it took: two complete lessons. I hope my students felt they were benefiting from it as well. What do you think of the result?
