PROPOSAL REGARDING THE STUDENT LIBRARY IMPROVEMENTS

Introduction

Many years after its last refurbishment, our student library is about to be improved. I would like to put forward some suggestions in order to make affordable improvements, taking into account that a small Budget is available.

Lighting

Our library lacks sunlight since it is located on the ground floor. The library users have been complaining for years about the lighting, not only because it is an old and unaesthetic system, but also due to the inefficiency of the lamps.

I would strongly suggest adapting the lighting system to the modern times, which necessarily implies acquiring LED lamps. I feel sure that the initial expenses this improvement may cause will be worthy, because this type of lighting will reduce our energy consumption, will provide much better light quality and the library will look more attractive.

Refreshment facilities

Some students think our refreshment vending machine is old and offers little variety of snacks and drinks. I believe it is in good working order, though an additional refreshment service would satisfy everybody. As an affordable suggestion, I would recommend inviting a Charity to provide afternoon refreshment recipes. This could be considered an opportunity of non-monetary swapping, since we offer them the benefits of a service to fund their projects and they give us the service we need.

Conclusion

It is my firm believe that it is possible to improve the student library for little expense. By changing the lighting system, we may obtain a short and long-term benefit, both for us and the environment. On the other hand, we could solve the refreshment problem through the cooperation with a Charity.
