ARTICLE ON ADDICTIONS: BEING A SHOPAHOLIC

ARE YOU A SHOPAHOLIC?

Do you spend most of your spare time in the shops of your city? Can you stay for more than five minutes in front of a show window? Do you usually examine every dummy you see so as to buy the clothes it has on? Do you feel the urge to buy something whenever you go to a shop? Are you the kind of person who cannot help wasting all the saved money, if any? Do you think you live beyond your means? Do you usually go on a shopping binge?

If your answers are positive, then there is no doubt that you are addicted to shopping. In fact, a shopaholic can be defined as a person whose compulsion to buy unnecessary things leads them to be in the red. The main characteristics of this kind of people are an addiction to looking for any bargains, an obsession with purchasing stuff that they may already have at home, and withdrawal symptoms if they do not have any money left to buy that trendy and unique shirt! The underlying causes of this kind of addiction are psychological.

Then what can I suggest to a potential shopaholic? First of all, you need to be aware of your dependence to purchasing, as well as be willing to get rid of your problem. To get to grips to this situation, make sure you leave your credit cards behind when you are likely to go past a shop. Having a nest egg could be a good goal you could set yourself. Hardly ever will you go on holiday if you do not have money for a rainy day! However, you should not forget to give yourself a treat from time to time. So, the sooner you start following this tips, the better off you will feel. Not only will you have more quality time for yourself, but you may also prevent your husband from being that furious with you!
