T.V SHOPAHOLIC
Do you feel over the moon when you buy the last gadget sold on T.V which will “change your life”? Do you watch the T.V Shopping Channel for long hours? Do you pick up the phone every time you hear:”if you call now you will get a 50%off”? And finally, do you find yourself buying things you do not really want?
If so, then the chances are that you are a T.V Shopaholic. This kind of addict feels moody and frustrated if they cannot get the latest gadgets as “The Body shaper”, which transforms your figure, ”The Nicer Dicer” ,which helps you to cook faster, or “The Easy-painter”, which helps you to paint your walls in a very easy way. They think that not only will it be useful but it will also make them as happy as the people in the advert seem to be.
The root of the problem might be a depression that can result in this compulsive shopping. Another possibility is to consider this behaviour as a defense mechanism to avoid feelings of loneliness, lack of self-esteem or even the empty nest syndrome.
The first step to solve this situation is to admit that you do have a problem. Once you become aware of this, you should try to discover the feelings you are trying to avoid. You can ask your family or friends for help. You can also try to spend quality time. If it does not work you should ask for professional assistance. It is after trying all this that everything will fall back into place. (P.V)
