AN EXAMPLE OF A FORMAL EMAIL
To: “Paul Sandler”
From: “Steven Crouch”
Subject: Invitation to make a speech.
Dear Mr. Sandler,
The purpose of this email is to formally invite you to give a speech for the opening ceremony of the new university building, Harrison Collegue II, which opens its doors in London on March 17.
I Know you worked as a lecturer of Philosophy at Harrison Collegue I for 50 years, so I have thought that you are the ideal person to give this talk.
For your information, the heads of most UK universities and the Mayor of London, as well as a large number of lecturers, will attend this event.
The talk would need to last for 45 minutes, in which you could tell us about your previous university experience as a student and then as a lecturer.
In closing, I would be pleased and honoured if you accepted to be our speaker at the opening ceremony.
Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Steven Crouch, Opening ceremony organiser
