THE KITE RUNNER

THE KITE RUNNER

When you read the first pages of this book you realize it is set in Afghanistan so, you can think it is another war story full of violence and meaningless cruelty;but it has nothing to do with that, even though violence is somehow present in the story.
The book, which is full of contradictory feelings, tells us how the lives of Amir and Hassan are strongly joined in ways they could not even imagine and, at the same time, they are separated by outside forces, as well as the feelings of guilt and the remorse that follow one of them through the years wherever he might be.
To sum up, I could say this is a mesmerizing book, which shows us a culture that is difficult for us (Westerners) to understand. You might even feel revolted by some chapters that are really hard to read and make you feel bad about the situation of Afghans and extremely happy about being Spanish. (V.E)
