Do you feel the urge to do exercise everyday? When you have a
sport-related injury which does not allow you to practice, does it get
on your nerves? Do you prefer to spend time alone in the gym or the
swimming pool rather than spend quality time with your friends and
family?
If you are in any of these situations, that makes it clear how
addicted to exercise you are. In fact, an exercise addict could be
defined as someone who suffers from a compulsion to do physical
exertion and also suffers from withdrawal symtomps whenever it is not
possible. Most of the time, the underlying causes of this addiction are
psychological. For instance, several researchers have pointed out that
the desire to live up to expectations about your shape and figure is
one of the main reasons to take fitness to excess. Besides, another
important purpose when people go to sport facilities is to seek health.
Unfortunately, exercise does not always prevent diseases, and,
moreover, taking fitness over the top could be much more dangerous than
being a sedentary person.
In order to overcome this addiction, making people aware of the
risks of doing exercise to excess is far and away the most important
thing. As you are an addict you must understand that in terms of
physical exertion, resting is as important as working. On the other
hand, make sure you resist the urge to do exercise, trying to do other
activities such as watching a film or going for a walk. If you could be
in good company it is better, and even easier, than on your own. And
remember that the more time you spend with a friend the more you know
about her or him. Those are my pieces of advice, I hope they have been
useful to you.
